Shane Hershey, SDU Education Manager
Shane is the SDU Education Manager for EK Success. He holds a BA in Counseling from Ohio Christian University and began working in the Craft and Hobby Industry in 2002 as the Director of Retail Operations for a local scrapbook store and internet commerce site. Shane has been scrapbooking since the early 1990's and has enjoyed industry responsibilities that include: independent retail public relations, marketing, buying and a successful implementation of the SDU curriculum in a retail environment. Shane has had many journalistic experiences and has a true passion for capturing memories through writing. He has written for such publications as Scrapbook Retailer Magazine and takes each step in his career as an opportunity to promote the growth of memory preservation.

You’ve asked for it, and it’s finally here: Scrapbooking 101!


This class is perfect for those people who have wanted to start scrapbooking, but don’t know where to begin. If you have a friend that has wanted to get started, but is intimidated, this class if for her! You will learn all the basics of scrapbooking: tools, adhesives, papers, embellishments, design and product selection. After learning the basics you will create a two page layout to get you started in this wonderful craft.

Materials needed: four to six photos of the same theme or event.

All About Me! Make-Up Day


All About Me! Make-Up Day

Have you wanted to join us for our monthly “All About Me!” class but were concerned because you didn’t start at the beginning of class?

Do you want to go back and make the layouts from the months that you’ve missed?

Sign up for our All About Me! Make-Up Day and work on the layouts from the first four months.

The topics are as follows:
Month 1 - Title page, personal information, and why you love where you live
Month 2 - A schedule for your typical day and the prices of goods and services today
Month 3 - If I knew then what I know now (a letter to yourself and a child)
Month 4 - Homes you have lived in throughout your life


We will be at the store all day working on the layouts, so come anytime from noon to 5pm.
Be sure to sign up by November 5 so that we can prepare all the materials.

All About Me Scrapbook Class #5

All About Me Scrapbook Class!

Join us for our fifth month of All About Me!
Each month we will create a 12x12 layout focusing on different aspects of you, your personality, your life and the people you love. This month’s layout will be about all the people you love. You will create a layout devoted to all those in your life that make you truly happy - mother, father, sister, brother, children, grandchildren, grandparents, best friends, and don’t forget the pets! You will need to be prepared with pictures. Bring one picture of each person or pet that you plan to include in your layout. Size doesn’t matter really, but the more people you want to include, the smaller the pictures will need to be.
They can be anywhere in size from 2x2 to 4x6”. We will use a carving template from Creating Keepsakes. If you would like to get the template in advance to fit your pictures into, go to www.creatingkeepsakes.com , click on “Magazines”, click on “Creating Keepsakes Magazine”, go to “Browse other issues”, drop down to October, scroll down to the carving templates. We will use the heart shaped template.
