The Chicago Tribune pitted two pro scrapbookers, one representing Chicago and the other representing the suburbs to compete head to head. So, we asked our very own Connie Tameling, mom, lawyer, scrapbook instructor and newly announced Honorable Mention of Creating Keepsakes 2007 Hall of Fame.
The Scrapbook Challenge went like this; without knowing what photos Connie would be given to use, she gathered an array of product from our store to bring to the competition with her. She brought her own cutting tools, papers, adhesives embellishment and ribbons to boot. It was like attending a Friday Night Crop. If it's not attached bring it. Connie and I arrived early at the Tribune Towers downtown Wednesday morning. Once everyone was there; our competitor, the cameraman, the video man, the report, the judge and audience, Connie was then given the mystery photos and the them for the scrapbook page. Connie then had one hour to complete her scrapbook page layout. Then, time was up! The pages were complete and the judge chose Connie's page as the winner!!!
You can read and see Connie's winning scrapbook page in the Chicago Tribune Paper today, April 4, 2006, in the At Play section 5A. Also you can view the video clip at www.chicagotribune.com/scrapbook . This was a great opportunity for Connie to represent the hobby of scrapbooking and to show off her talent to everyone. Good Job!
